室內公共空間的排除性

室內與室外公共空間的最主要的差異,在於公共性的程度。室內公共空間從建築的外觀、入口、是否有警衛控管誰可以使用空間等種種因素,反應了室內空間的管理者、共享室內街道的店家企圖篩選特定族群的企圖。例如:若試圖吸引高收入族群,室內空間的裝修風格、進駐商家篩選、娛樂空間的種類層級等等,都形塑了吸引的族群(或是排除其他的族群)

Filtering by Indoor Spaces

Public spaces that are inside differ from public spaces that are outside. They are not as public as you might think. The look of a building, its entrance and the guards do have a filtering effect at the cross section of the public that uses the space. It’s an effect that builders and shop managers are trying to achieve. They want to attract a special type of shoppers. For example the ones with higher incomes.Inevitably, any internal space is bound to have a screening effect; its amenities, the merchandise lines offered, the level of entertainment – all these help to determine the people who will choose to come.
