可移動的椅子與固定的座椅
由於有扶手與靠背的緣故，椅子坐起來還是比凳子舒服的。相較起固定的公園長凳或座椅，椅子的另個好處是是可以移動的，可以讓使用者自由的選擇單獨或與別人一起坐；坐在太陽下或陰影裡。就尺寸來說，可移動的椅子需要76公分(30英吋）的空間，但現況多半只有50公分左右(19英吋）。
單獨固定在地上的座椅作用有限，比較起來他們像是公共空間裡有趣或是裝飾的元素，這樣的空間製造出社交的距離，單獨坐在被太多開放空間環繞的座椅反而容易使人感覺尷尬。
編註：雖然台灣公共空間的椅子或凳子很少是可以移動的，但不少社區公園，每天使用的居民反而會自己帶椅子到公園放著，是另一種有趣的風景。

The choice to sit alone or in groups, in the sun or in the shadow.A moveable chair needs 30 inches of space. In many current plans, this is often only 19 inches.
Individual seats who are stuck to the ground don’t work out so well. They can be fun and decorative elements, but are simply loose pieces from a set. They create a social distance.Fixed Seats are awkward in open spaces because there’s so much space around it.
